Over the last couple decades concealed carry laws have become commonplace throughout almost every state in the country. Concealed carry is when a person is carrying a weapon, typically a firearm, on or in close proximity to their person. Concealed carry laws are for common citizens since police officers and other law enforcement can already legally carry firearms. All but two states have legalized at least some form of concealed carry, with most allowing any citizen who qualifies (no felony criminal record, meets a certain age requirement, and can qualify with a firearm) to get a permit.
There are many things to consider before starting to carry a weapon. The first thing to find out is how to get a permit. Texas state laws govern concealed carry laws so you need to be aware of the laws. You will need to take a class that will inform you of the basics of firearms as well as local laws regarding concealed carry. You will also be required to qualify with a firearm. Other requirements include fingerprinting, background checks, and photographs.
Once you have your CHL, your weapon and your holster you are ready to start carrying. When you head to the local hardware store and look around at all the faces staring at you, and you soon realize that no one knows you are carrying a firearm, you can stop pulling down your shirt and start enjoying the freedoms and protections that are offered by your CHL.
My name is Art Starliper and I am prepared and honored to help guide you down the road to becoming a CHL carrier.
So, you can go almost anywhere and take a CHL course.....But why choose me? I am former military. I am an affiliate instructor for Hoffners training academy, which has been providing high speed training for 25 years where I have spent the past five years providing motivated citizens dynamic instruction in the proper use of empty hands defense, folding knife, pistol, shotgun, carbine, rifle, low light, vehicle defensive tactics and force on force tactics. These courses range from beginner to advanced tactical training.
Being a CHL holder myself, I have seen many levels of confidence and skill while operating a firearm. It makes me proud and sometimes scared to see the level of mental awareness and accuracy present in some, and absent in others. The fact is, carring a handgun is an enormus responsibility. Choosing to use it is life changing, both legally and monetarily.
Attending a CHL course and sitting thru the state required material and barely qualifying in order to obtain a form CHL-100 is one way to do it. But do you really think you will be prepared to meet the challenge with a vengance when it appears out of nowhere? I will deliver the states message in a clear consise manner. You will feel motivated to continue to train and develope skills that will save your life and possibly others when needed.
Should you need expert testimony, wouldn't you want it from an instructor who cares that you enter the world of a CHL holder 100% prepared to defend yourself or another ?
